Synopsis
Elara Voss, a brilliant but isolated ventriloquist, pours her shattered psyche into her lifelike dummy, Mr. Grin, treating it as her only child and protector. When a sleazy producer mocks and damages the puppet during an audition, Mr. Grin awakens with murderous autonomy, systematically eliminating every threat to their twisted partnership. As bodies pile up and Elara's grip on reality frays, she must decide whether to stop the carnage or surrender fully to the darkness that finally makes her feel whole.
The story
Elara, a withdrawn puppeteer living in a decaying theater, clings to her sentient-seeming dummy Mr. Grin as her sole companion after years of trauma. A cocky producer publicly humiliates and damages the puppet during a showcase, shattering her fragile world.
Mr. Grin comes alive at night, stalking and gruesomely killing the producer and others who slight Elara, forcing her to confront the puppet's growing independence and her own complicity. Police close in while Elara's mind fractures between love for her creation and horror at its rampage.
In a blood-soaked climax inside the abandoned theater, Elara merges with Mr. Grin in a final act of possession, turning the tables on her pursuers and embracing eternal, vengeful unity.
