Synopsis

In a rain-slick Pacific Northwest city, Detective Lena Voss discovers that a single black crow appears in the background of every live-streamed suicide. What begins as morbid coincidence metastasizes into pattern: the crow is always watching, always waiting. As the body count rises, Lena realizes the bird is not a harbinger but a catalyst, feeding on the darkest impulses of those who see it. Her investigation pulls her into the orbit of a reclusive ornithologist who claims the crow is an ancient intelligence that has learned to weaponize social media. When the bird begins appearing in Lena’s own reflection, she must decide whether to sever every connection to the outside world or become its next messenger.

The story

Act I

Lena Voss, still raw from her partner’s suicide, is assigned a routine jumper case that turns extraordinary when frame-by-frame analysis reveals a crow perched on the ledge moments before the fall. The image goes viral.

Act II

Lena traces the crow across dozens of streams, each victim having viewed the previous death online. Her apartment fills with feathers; colleagues dismiss her as unhinged while the bird begins appearing in her own security footage.

Act III

Cornered on a rain-soaked rooftop, Lena uploads a final live confession and shoots the crow mid-flight. The screen cuts to black; the next day a new video surfaces—Lena’s own face in the frame, crow reflected in her eyes.

Cold open

INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT
Rain streaks the window. On a laptop, a LIVE STREAM shows a young man on a rooftop ledge. Chat scrolls: "do it" "jump king."

The man looks straight into the lens. Behind him, a single BLACK CROW perches on an antenna, eyes reflecting the screen glow.

YOUNG MAN
You all watching? Good.

He steps off. The feed glitches. For one frame the crow fills the screen, wings spread like ink.

CUT TO:

Lena Voss, illuminated by the laptop, rewinds. The crow is gone. Only the empty ledge remains. She leans closer. A single feather drifts across her desk.

Why now

In an era of endless scrolling and performative despair, the film taps the collective dread that our screens are no longer mirrors but doors—inviting something ancient and hungry to watch us watch ourselves die.
