Synopsis

Alex Reed once wrote the perfect rom-com hit that captured a generation's first loves and friendships. Now in the shadow of its flop sequel, his own marriage is crumbling, his career is stalled, and every bad decision feels scripted by an unseen showrunner. When mysterious production notes appear in his drafts predicting real events, Alex realizes he must break into the writers' room of his existence to salvage a happy ending. As he recruits his estranged wife and a obsessive fan to help, reality glitches intensify: friends vanish mid-conversation, timelines reset, and a menacing network executive threatens to cancel everything. The deeper Alex digs, the more he confronts how his original success was built on lies that doomed the follow-up. With the series finale looming as a literal apocalyptic broadcast, Alex races to type the ultimate rewrite, risking erasure to give his story—and his life—the resolution it always deserved.

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Rain streaks the window. ALEX REED, 38, disheveled, hunches over a laptop glowing with half-finished pages. A TV murmurs in the background: his old show's theme song.

ALEX
(to himself)
Just one more season. Make it land this time.

He types: "ELENA walks back in, smiling."

The door creaks. ELENA enters, eyes red, holding divorce papers.

ELENA
This isn't your script anymore, Alex.

Alex freezes. On the laptop, the exact line appears untyped. Thunder cracks. The TV flickers to static, then shows Alex's face in real time.

ALEX
What the hell...
